TREATING POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)

1.  Observe feelings, learn mindfulness techniques.  It is okay to feel, be patient with yourself.  Life is about feeling!!!!

2.  Learn to trust a counselor, coach, mentor or any professional who has the ability to assist you in your own healing.  Most of all, trust yourself and trust the healing process.

3.  Supportive and positive network of family, friends, and/or support groups.

4.  Encourage family and friends to seek understanding of PTSD.

5.  Be flexible and patient.  Let the healing process take its natural course, no pushing or pulling.

6.  Ask yourself, "What do I really want?"  "What am I willing to do to get there?"

7.  Be aware and research your choices.  Do what is right for you, but be sure to do something!!!

8.  Exercise and diet.  This will help with the chemical and biological processes, as well as a better night sleep.  In time, nightmares will diminish as you regain control of your life.

9.  Balance and stability.  Remember to have fun, laugh, and take time for yourself.
